Inventor Files Suit against Blockbuster, Google, HTC, and Samsung

May 31, 2012

Ho Keung Tse [INV] filed two separate suits against Blockbuster, Google, HTC, and Samsung, alleging that the defendants’ Internet Virtual Stores operated through their websites infringe a patent related to security and encryption.  Ho Keung TSE has filed three prior suits since August 2005 against AppleAOLeBay, and Sony over patents related to software security.  During reexamination, the PTO confirmed the validity of at least some claims of the patents asserted in the prior suits, but this action was filed while the rest of the reexamination proceeding was still pending.  The complaints stated that the plaintiff would re-file after the reexamination certificates were issued and would seek to consolidate the cases. 5/30, Eastern District of Texas, Judge Ron Clark, 4:2012cv00328; Judge Leonard Davis, 6:2012cv00356.
