Canatelo [NPE] filed suit against D-Link Systems and OfficeMax, alleging that the defendants’ video-based security systems, and wireless network cameras infringe two patents related to computerized video security and monitoring systems.  This is the first patent infringement suit initiated by Canatelo.  Luis Ramirez, Pedro Cruz-Burgos, and Dan Rodriguez are the named inventors on the patents-in-suit, which were assigned to Innovation Institute in August 2002 and November 2002.  According to the complaint, Canatelo owns the patents-in-suit, but this has not been recorded at the USPTO.  5/25, District of Puerto Rico, no judge yet assigned, 3:2012cv01392.
