New NPE Sues Cloud Companies with Patents from Symantec

Stec IP [NPE] filed five separate suits against Amazon, Apple, Google, Microsoft, and Oracle, alleging that the defendants’  cloud computing products infringe seven to 11 patents (depending on the defendant) related to a network management, file synchronization and remote access.  The patents-in-suit originated with various entities, and were assigned to Symantec between March 1997 and February 2012.  According to the complaints, Stec IP is the assignee of the patents-in-suit, but the assignment has yet to be recorded with the PTO.  5/22, District of Delaware, no judge yet assigned, 1:2012cv00638; 1:2012cv00639; 1:2012cv00640; 1:2012cv00641; 1:2012cv00642.
