Renamed Polaris IP Entity Sues EMC and SAS

Bright Response [NPE] filed two separate suits against EMC and SAS Institute, alleging that EMC’s Content Intelligence Services & Integration with EMC Documentum and SAS Institute’s Text Miner and Enterprise Miner products infringe a patent related to responses to natural language queries.  Bright Response, formerly known as Polaris IP, has filed one prior suit since August 2007 against 10 companies, including Amazon, AOL, Google, and Yahoo.  The patent-in-suit originated with Brightware, and was assigned to Firepond, Orion IP, Taurus IP, and subsequently to Polaris IP in March 2006.  Polaris IP filed an assignment to change its name to Bright Response in April 2008.  Polaris IP is a known Erich Spangenberg (IP Navigation) entity. 5/8, Eastern District of Texas, no judge yet assigned, 2:2012cv00279; 2:2012cv00280.
