New NPE Sues Motorola Solutions and Two Resellers

May 7, 2012

Mobile Scanning Technologies [NPE] filed suit against Informatics Holdings, Motorola Solutions, and System ID Warehouse, alleging that Motorola Solution’s mobile devices with laser scanners (and Informatics and System ID’s resale of these products) infringes a patent a removable attachments for a PDA.  This is the first patent infringement suit initiated by Mobile Scanning Technologies.  The patent-in-suit originated with 3Com and was assigned to the Mobile Scanning Technologies entity by Intellectual Asset Group in March 2012. Intellectual Asset Group acquired the patent from 3Com in August 2007. On its website, Intellectual Asset Group lists Paul Schwartz, the named correspondent on the patent’s last two assignments, as CEO. The correspondent’s address in the latest assignment made by Schwartz matches the address disclosed by Mobile Scanning Technologies in their corporate disclosure statement filed on May 4, 2012.  5/4, Eastern District of Texas, Judge Rodney Gilstrap, 2:2012cv00270.
