Azure Networks and Tri-County Excelsior Foundation Sue MediaTek

April 9, 2012

Azure Networks [NPE] and Tri-County Excelsior Foundation (TCEF) filed suit against MediaTek, alleging that MediaTek’s Bluetooth chip solutions infringe a patent related to wireless data networking.  Azure Networks has filed four prior suits since October 2008 against over 15 defendants including Broadcom, Freescale, Marvell, Nokia, Qualcomm, Samsung, and Texas Instruments.  The patent-in-suit originated with BBN Technologies (a Raytheon subsidiary) and was assigned to TCEF in June 2010.  According to the complaint, Azure Networks is the exclusive licensee of the patent-in-suit.  TCEF is a non-profit organization that supports Casa of Harrison County, a charity that trains community volunteers to be advocates for abused and neglected children in the custody of Child Protected Services.  4/6, Eastern District of Texas, no judge yet assigned, 6:2012cv00252.
