Tallgrass Sues Credant Technologies and Sophos

April 4, 2012

Tallgrass Prairie Management (TPM) [NPE] filed two separate suits against Credant Technologies and Sophos, alleging that the defendants’ software infringes three patents related to security software for storing encrypted digital secrets.  TPM filed one prior suit in September 2011 against Apple, Checkpoint Software, Microsoft, Symantec, and WinMagic.  The named inventor on the patents-in-suit, Addison Fischer, assigned the patents to Information Protection and Authentication of West Virginia in June 2009.  RPX obtained sublicense rights for existing clients to the IPAW/Tallgrass patents as part of the IPAT acquisition in January 2010.  4/3, Eastern District of Texas, no judge yet assigned, 2:2012cv00171; 2:2012cv00172.
