NovelPoint Tracking [NPE] filed suit against Alamo Industries, Dynamex, EJ Ward, Geomoto, Lasso Technologies, Megahertz Technology, MiX Telematics, Sageplan, Track What Matters, and X5 GPS Tracking, alleging that the defendants’ tracking and theft-recovery devices infringe a patent related GPS vehicle tracking, collision notification, and voice communication.  An entity named NovelPoint Security has filed 33 prior suits since March 2012 against defendants including Acer, Apple, ASUS, Dell, Fujitsu-Siemens, HP, Lenovo, Motorola, Panasonic, Samsung, Sony, and Toshiba, and an entity named NovelPoint Learning filed one prior suit in April 2010 against five defendants.  All three entities are located in Allen, TX.  Wayne Evans is the named inventor on the patents-in-suit, and while NovelPoint Tracking claims to be the owner by assignment of the patents-in-suit, no assignment information about the patents has been recorded with the USPTO.  RPX reviewed the 6,442,485 patent as part of an open market opportunity, Evans GPS, in July 2010.  4/2, Eastern District of Texas, no judge yet assigned, 4:2012cv00191.
