Walmart Increases Online Business Focus

April 2, 2012 – The SF Chronicle reports that Walmart has increased its investment in its online business to keep up with Amazon.  Walmart reportedly spent more than $300 million acquiring five tech firms since May, hired more than 300 engineers and code writers, and established a program to allow customers without credit cards or bank accounts to make online purchases.
