March 26, 2012

Advanced Processor Technologies (APT) [NPE], a subsidiary of Acacia Research, filed seven separate suits against Atmel, Conexant Systems, Creative Labs, Marvell, Mindspeed, NVIDIA, Xilinx, and ZiiLabs, alleging that the defendants’ products containing ARM Cortex-A9, ARM926, ARM1136, ARM926EJ-S, or Sheeva processors infringe one to four patents related to using virtual memory to improve the efficiency of physical memory.  APT filed one prior suit in January 2011 against Analog Devices, Cirrus Logic, Conexant Systems, Digi International, Marvell, Micrel, Mindspeed, Netronome, and Zoran.  The patents-in-suit originated with Hitachi and were assigned to Renesas before being assigned to APT.  Two of the patents-in-suit were assigned to APT by Vachellia in August 2010, while the other two were assigned to APT directly by Renesas in May 2011.  3/23, Eastern District of Texas, 2:2012cv00152; 2:2012cv00153; 2:2012cv00154; 2:2012cv00155; 2:2012cv00156; 2:2012cv00157; 2:2012cv00158.
