Clairmail Files for DJ against Maxim Integrated

March 22, 2012

Clairmail filed an action for declaratory judgment against Maxim Integrated Products [NCE], seeking declaration that its mobile applications (and its customers’ use of those mobile applications) do not infringe four patents related to electronic modules used for secure transactions.  According to the complaint, Maxim sent demand letters to some of Clairmail’s customers, who in turn sought indemnification and defense from Clairmail.  Maxim has filed ten prior suits since January 2012 against defendants including Expedia and Groupon.  Maxim has also been subject to six separate actions for declaratory judgment over the same period.  3/16, Northern District of California, 3:2012cv01338.
