Four Adaptix Patents Assigned to Microsoft in January

March 22, 2012 -   On March 2, 2012, Adaptix [NPE], a subsidiary of Acacia Research  recorded the assignment of US patent numbers 7,164,669, 7,257,376, 7,414,994, 8,010,118 and pending US application 20110286351 to Microsoft on January 9, 2012. Adaptix has filed 12 suits thus far in 2012 against defendants including Alcatel-Lucent, Apple, AT&T, HTC, LG, Motorola Mobility, Nokia, Pantech, Sprint Spectrum, and Verizon, alleging that the defendants’ mobile phones, tablets, and 4G LTE services infringe seven patents related to OFDMA and 4G LTE technology.  In January 2012, Acacia Research announced the acquisition of the Adaptix patent portfolio for $160 million and licensing agreements with Microsoft and Samsung.  Acacia has reported that it executed license agreements totaling approximately $75 million in January 2012, and it is speculated that a large part of this revenue may have come from Microsoft and Samsung.
