NPE Sues Apple, Google, Nintendo, and YouTube over Video Distribution Patent

Trans Video Electronics (TVE) [NPE] filed three separate suits against Apple, Google, Nintendo, and YouTube, alleging that the defendants’ video distribution products and services (including the Nintendo Channel, Nintendo Wii, Nintendo DS and 3DS, the iTunes Store, Apple TV, iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch, and the YouTube website) infringe two patents related to downloading and streaming of digital video.  TVE has filed five prior suits since August 2006 against DirecTV, Echostar, Sirius, Sony, and XM.  Mohammed and Mohailo Rebec are the named inventors on the patents-in-suit, which they assigned to TVE in the 1990s.  3/15, District of Columbia, 1:2012cv00402; 1:2012cv00403; 1:2012cv00404.
