Acacia’s SmartPhone Technologies Sues Dell with Palm Patents

SmartPhone Technologies [NPE] filed suit against Dell, alleging that Dell’s Venue smartphones infringe ten patents related to various mobile device technologies. SmartPhone Technologies, a subsidiary of Acacia Research, has filed five prior suits since March 2010 against AT&T, Apple, Exedea, HTC, Insight Enterprises, Kyocera, LG, Motorola, Nokia, Pantech, RIM, Samsung, Sanyo, Sony Ericsson, and T-Mobile. According to the complaint, SmartPhone is the exclusive licensee of the patents-in-suit, which originated with Palm. In January 2012, Acacia announced that SmartPhone entered into a license agreement with Amazon. 3/14, Eastern District of Texas, 6:2012cv00154.
