New NPE Sues Cincinnati Bell, RIM, and T-Mobile

March 12, 2012

ISwitch [NPE] filed two separate suits against Cincinnati Bell, RIM, and T-Mobile, alleging that the defendants’ mobile phones infringe a patent related to encrypted WiFi enabled VoIP communications under the 3GPP General Access Network standards.  These are the first patent infringement suits filed by ISwitch.  The patent-in-suit originated with Multimedia Engineering Company before being assigned to ISwitch in December 2011. RPX reviewed the patent-in-suit as an open market opportunity (Bianchi) in April 2011.  3/9, Eastern District of Texas, 6:2012cv00118; 6:2012cv00119.
