Semcon Tech [NPE] filed two separate suits against Lightwire and Qualcomm, alleging that the defendants’ core-based integrated circuits and optical transceiver modules (containing components fabricated by GlobalFoundries) infringe a patent related to a finishing process for semiconductor components.  These are the first patent infringement suits initiated by Semcon Tech.  Charles Molnar is the named inventor on the patent-in-suit, which he assigned to Semcon Tech in February 2012. The patent-in-suit is one of 22 issued patents that RPX reviewed as an open market opportunity (Molnar) in May 2011.  3/1, District of Delaware, 1:2012cv00251; 1:2012cv00252.
