The New York Times Files for DJ against Webvention

July 20, 2011

The New York Times filed an action for declaratory judgment against Webvention over a patent related to hover previewing and dynamic search. Webvention claims to have licensed the patent-in-suit to over 280 companies on its website and has been named in more than 25 separate declaratory judgment actions since September, 2010.  The complaint filed by the New York Times indicates it received a letter and offer to license for $80,000 in September 2010.  The New York Times filed a separate complaint for declaratory judgment in June against related-Webvention entity, Lodsys. 7/18, District of Delaware, 1:2011cv00634.
