February 17, 2012- The USPTO recorded the assignment of a patent from Acacia Research to Network Presentations LLC on February 15th. US patent 5,748,190, was assigned (but not publicly recorded) to Acacia in November 2011 by Beep Science (a now defunct Norwegian mobile DRM company). Beep Science reached out to RPX in January 2010 seeking to sell the patent (open market opportunity “Beep”). The patent was originally developed by a Norwegian company, WiseVision, and relates to the display of a presentation sequence on a personal computer. It is likely that Acacia will launch a new litigation campaign with the assigned patent within the next several weeks.
