Trimble Navigation filed an action for declaratory judgment against Beacon Navigation, seeking declaration that its GPS products do not infringe five patents related to navigation systems.  In October 2011, Beacon filed 20 different suits and an ITC investigation against many of Trimble’s customers.  The instant complaint alleges that Trimble has a license to the patents-in-suit and that Beacon is in breach of that license by suing Trimble’s customers.  The patents-in-suit originated with Rockwell International and Magellan before being assigned to Beacon by MiTAC International in February 2011. 2/3, Northern District of California, 3:2012cv00575.
