Cyberfone (Formerly LVL) Files Suits against Cable Providers

CyberFone Systems [NPE], formerly known as LVL Patent Group [NPE], filed 13 separate suits against Atlantic Broadband, Bright House, Cable One, Cequel, Charter, Comcast, Cox, CSC Holdings, Insight Communications, Knology, Mediacom, RCN Telecom, and Time Warner, alleging that the defendants’ mobile applications and television services infringe a patent related to obtaining data transactions from information entered via phone.  Rocco Martino is the named inventor on the patent-in-suit and the founder of CyberFone Technologies, which assigned the patent to LVL in August 2011.  Before changing its name to CyberFone Systems in October 2011, LVL filed eight suits in September 2011 against over 130 defendants including Amazon, Apple, AT&T, Avaya, Cisco, Futurewei, Google, HP, HTC, Kyocera, LG, MetroPCS, Motorola Mobility, NEC, Nokia, Philips, RIM, Samsung, Sanyo, Sharp, Sony, Sony Ericsson, T-Mobile, Toshiba, Vizio, Yahoo, and ZTE.
