NPE Sues Diebold for Electronic Deposits

January 6, 2012

PPS Data [NPE] filed suit against Diebold, alleging that Diebold’s ImageWay products and services infringe five patents related to software used to capture deposit information and images of the monetary items at financial institutions or remotely.  While PPS Data has filed five prior suits against defendants that process electronic health records, this is PPS Data’s first suit against a defendant in the financial services industry.  The patents-in-suit originated with NetDeposit, a bank software provider which changed its name to PPS Data in October 2010.  According to the complaint, PPS Data is a subsidiary of Zions Bancorporation.  1/5, District of Utah, 2:2012cv00012.
