New NPE Sues Violin Memory over Flash Arrays

January 6, 2012

Narada Systems [NPE] filed suit against Violin Memory, alleging that Violin’s flash memory arrays infringe two patents related to switch fabrics that include asymmetrical and multiport switching elements.  This is the first patent infringement suit initiated by Narada Systems.  Gautam Kavipurapu is the named inventor on the patents-in-suit as well as a director of Iris Technologies (later named Iris Holdings), which assigned the patents to Narada in November 2011. According to the complaint, ”NARADA was formed in 2009 for the purpose of commercializing the technology protected by the ‘786 Patent, and is currently based in the Eastern District of Texas. NARADA is managed by Richard Burnes, who is also a long time resident of Allen Texas.”
