Digitude Innovations [NPE] filed eight separate suits against Amazon, HTC, LG, Motorola Mobility, Nokia, Rim, Samsung, and Sony, alleging that the defendants’ tablets and cellular phones infringe five patents related to various aspects of mobile communication.  These are the first patent infringement suits initiated by Digitude, a patent licensing entity funded by Altitude Capital Partners.  Altitude reportedly invested $50 million in Digitude, and according to its June 2011 press release Digititude has acquired 550 US patents related to consumer electronics and mobile devices.  The patents-in-suit originated with various companies including Apple and Mistubishi and were assigned to Digitude in November 2011.  RPX reviewed the portfolio in March 2011.  12/2, District of Delaware, 1:2011cv01191; 1:2011cv01192; 1:2011cv01193; 1:2011cv01194; 1:2011cv01195; 1:2011cv01196; 1:2011cv01197; 1:2011cv01198.
