Semiconductor Technologies [NPE]  (a new Acacia Research subsidiary) filed suit against Hynix Semiconductor, alleging that Hynix’s DRAM chips infringe four patents related to the manufacture of integrated circuit devices.  This is the first patent infringement suit initiated by the plaintiff entity, Semiconductor Technologies.  The patents-in-suit originated with Hitachi and were assigned to NEC, Renesas, and most recently, Elpida, before Semiconductor Technologies (Acacia) became the exclusive licensee in November 2011.  11/18, Central District of California, 8:2011cv01788.
