Storage Software Markets Reached $12.7B in 2010

The storage software market reached $12.7B in 2010 according to IDC.  The leading vendor was EMC, with storage software revenue of $866M, up 18% from a year earlier. Symantec ranked second but achieved just 0.1% growth, at $543M. IBM came in third at $443M. NetApp followed in fourth place at $312M and Hitachi was ranked fifth at $148M. Hitachi achieved the strongest growth of the top five companies, increasing sales 47% in the fourth quarter.
