Round Rock Research [NPE] filed three separate suits against Acer and Gateway, ASUSTek, and Dell over eight patents related to LCD displays, inventory tracking, data storage, and memory devices.  Round Rock acquired the patents-in-suit from Micron Technology in 2010, and has filed two prior suits since October 2010 against HTC and Oracle.  Round Rock has licensed its portfolio to Apple, Nokia, Sony, and Samsung, and an unknown buyer purchased a Round Rock covenant not to sue for over $35M at the ICAP Ocean Tomo Spring 2011 Auction.  Round Rock was formed by John Desmarais, the former head of patent litigation at Kirkland & Ellis.  10/14, District of Delaware, 1:2011cv00976; 1:2011cv00977; 1:2011cv00978.
