Cryptography Research, a division of Rambus, announced  a license agreement with a “major smartphone and tablet manufacturer.”  According to the press release, the smartphone and tablet maker will pay ongoing royalties for a license to Cryptography’s patents related to differential power analysis countermeasures. (Differential power analysis is used to penetrate cryptographically-protected communications by analyzing power consumption to obtain keys.)
