September 28, 2011 – Microsoft announced a patent cross-licensing agreement with Samsung. According to Microsoft’s press release, Microsoft will receive royalties for Samsung’s mobile phones and tablets using the Android mobile platform.  Additionally, the release reported that the companies will work together to develop and market a Windows phone.  Microsoft announced another patent cross-license agreement, with Casio, on September 20th. Microsoft’s release indicated that the company will be “compensated” by Casio under the terms of the agreement.
