Dow Corning Compound Semiconductor Solutions filed an action for declaratory judgment against Cree [NPE] over three patents related to silicon carbide wafers used in semiconductors.  According to the complaint, Cree has recently launched an aggressive licensing campaign with relation to its silicon carbide portfolio containing 34 patents.  Cree has been involved in 8 prior suits as either a plaintiff or as defendant in an infringement action or declaratory judgment action.  In August 2011, a district court held one of Cree’s patents to be invalid.  9/27, Eastern District of Michigan, 1:2011cv14255.
