Intel to Supply Mobile Processors for Android Devices

September 14, 2011- Intel and Google announced that Intel will develop Atom microprocessors “optimized” for Android mobile devices.  Currently, almost all smartphones (an estimated 95% in 2010) use ARM processors.  According to the Intel press release, “Today’s announcement builds upon the two companies’ recent joint initiatives to enable Intel architecture on Google products, which include Chrome OS and Google TV along with the Android Software Development Kit (SDK) and Native Development Kit (NDK).”
