September 13, 2011- Microsoft announced it had granted patent licenses to Acer and ViewSonic for mobile handset and tablet devices “running Android or Chrome.”  Microsoft announced a patent license agreement with HTC in 2010. Some media sources have speculated that HTC agreed to pay Microsoft $5 per device sold.
