DSS Acquires New Portfolios Related to Semiconductors and Bluetooth

Document Security Systems acquired two patent portfolios from different sources in Q3 according to a recent press release. One relates to semiconductor manufacture and the other to the use of low-power Bluetooth peripherals but no further specifics were given. Both portfolios together cost $2.5 million and an undisclosed portion of that cost was provided by private investors. DSS reported that the portfolios will be used for its operations, to create devices and peripherals to run DSS’ security platform. The publicly-traded entity has also asserted patents in almost a dozen lawsuits filed by its subsidiary Bascom Research.
