A jury returned a verdict finding that Qualcomm infringed 11 claims of four patents held by ParkerVision. ParkerVision’s original complaint, filed in July 2011, asserted seven patents related to radio frequency (RF) signal technology but only four patents were at issue in the jury’s verdict (6,061,551; 6,266,518; 6,370,371; 7,496,342). The jury found that 20 Qualcomm products infringed and awarded $173 million in past damages.  This is ParkerVision’s only patent assertion suit to date. ParkerVision, a public company, has reported that it has not generated any revenue from its RF technology since 2005 and had $7 million in cash at the end of 2012.
