Inventor John Adrain has sued several physical security technology companies since 2008. However, his most recent suit, against Samsung,  accused Samsung TVs with facial recognition of infringing his patent. Adrain’s patent generally relates generally relates to comparing collected video data to a reference image (5,831,669).  The USPTO has initiated two reexaminations of the ‘669 patent. The first concluded in August 2012 with the cancellation of claims 1-11. Claims 2, 3, 7-9, and 10 survived with amendments and  new claims 21-52 were added. The second reexamination is not yet complete but in May 2013 a non-final action rejected claims 30-32, 35-39, 41, and 42. 10/25, Eastern District of Texas, 2:13cv00882
