HD Radio Broadcasting is the Target of New NPE Campaign

  • November 7, 2013

Radio broadcasting companies are the subject of a new campaign filed by Delaware Radio Technologies. The entity is suing Beasley Broadcast Group, CBS, CC Media Holdings, Cox, Cumulus Media, Entercom, EntraVision, Greater Media, Hubbard Radio, Radio One, Saga Communications, Townsquare, Univision, and Walt Disney. Each complaint asserts three patents related to voice and data transmission over analog or digital signals (5,475,691; 5,506,866; 5,642,379) and defendants’ HD radio transmission techniques are accused of infringement. The cases all name Wyncomm as co-plaintiff. Delaware Radio owns the ‘691 and ‘379 patents but ‘866 patent is owned by Wyncomm and exclusively licensed to Delaware Radio. All three were originally owned by AT&T and were part of the Paradyne portfolio that was assigned to Patent Business Development by Zhone. The patents were then assigned to Clearwater Innovations and from there to Wyncomm and Delaware Radio. 11/1, District of Delaware, 1:13cv01813, 1:13cv01814, 1:13cv01815, 1:13cv01816, 1:13cv01817, 1:13cv01818, 1:13cv01819, 1:13cv01820, 1:13cv01821, 1:13cv01822, 1:13cv01823, 1:13cv01824, 1:13cv01825, 1:13cv01826
