A new Empire IP entity filed filed seven suits against AT&T, Avaya, Cisco, Esna, Microsoft, Oracle, and Unify. The cases, filed by Message Notification Technologies, assert a single patent related to notification of receipt of email messages through a device (5,944,786). The patent was assigned to Empire IP by the individual inventor in July 2013. Complaints allege that defendants’ unified messaging systems that provide notifications to a user’s phone upon receipt of an email and that those services infringe the asserted patent. RPX reviewed the patent on the open market in April 2013. 11/11, District of Delaware, 1:13cv01877, 1:13cv01878, 1:13cv01879, 1:13cv01880, 1:13cv01881, 1:13cv01882, 1:13cv01883
