Online ‘Shopping Cart’ Services Targeted in New Campaign

November 27, 2013

Twenty lawsuits against a variety of companies make up the first litigation campaign filed by eDekka. The entity filed complaints against Amazon, Apple, Best Buy, Blackberry, Bodybuilding.com, CDW, Costco, Gap, HSN, JC Penney, Liberty Interactive, Macy’s, Office Depot, Sally Beauty, Samsung, Sears, Symantec, Target, WW Grainger, and Yum! Brands, specifically accusing defendants’ websites of infringing the asserted patent (6,266,674). The complaints allege that websites containing a shopping cart feature infringe a patent related to storing information provided by a user. eDekka states that it is the owner by assignment of the patent-in-suit although no assignment from the inventor has been recorded. No disclosures as to ownership or control have been made in the cases but the address eDekka lists in the complaints is almost identical to that used by Penovia in its litigation filings.11/20, Eastern District of Texas, 2:13cv00968, 2:13cv00969, 2:13cv00970, 2:13cv00971, 2:13cv00972, 2:13cv00973, 2:13cv00974, 2:13cv00975, 2:13cv00976, 2:13cv00977, 2:13cv00978, 2:13cv00979, 2:13cv00980, 2:13cv00981, 2:13cv00982, 2:13cv00983, 2:13cv00984, 2:13cv00985, 2:13cv00986, 2:13cv00987
