This week WiLAN released financial results for the fourth quarter and fiscal year ended December 31, 2013. The company reported revenue of $29 million in the fourth quarter and $88 million for the 2013 fiscal year, compared to $21 million and $88 million last year, respectively. WiLAN signed license agreements with 17 companies during fiscal 2013, with the top 10 licensees accounting for 79% of revenue. The entity reports it currently has licensing agreements with a total of 279 companies. In the third and fourth quarter, WiLAN entered into license agreements with Alcatel-Lucent, HTC, BlackBerry, HP, Novatel Wireless, and Sierra Wireless. The company also acquired a portfolio of patents and pending applications from Alcatel related to wireless technologies. During the fourth quarter, WiLAN signed an agreement with Panasonic to assign over 900 semiconductor patents to a new WiLAN subsidiary, Collabo Innovations Inc. WiLAN says it currently holds over 1,000 semiconductor patents inclusive of the 900 Panasonic patents.
