AIM IP Continues VoIP Campaign by Adding Huawei to List of Mobile Device Defendants

February 13, 2014

Almost exactly one year after AIM IP last filed litigation it is pursuing new litigation against Huawei. AIM has been targeting mobile device makers and service providers with a patent related to VoIP communication (5,920,853). The case against Huawei is part of the ongoing campaign and accuses Huawei smartphones of infringing the patent-in-suit. The asserted patent originated with Rockwell International and was transferred to Conexant in 1998. There is no assignment record for a transfer to AIM. The patent was offered for sale  by AIM in early 2011. AIM began asserting the patent in litigation in April 2011. The campaign has filed almost 20 suits involving defendants that include Cisco, HP, and Microsoft. Most of AIM’s litigation has concluded and only three cases remain open. 2/6, Central District of California, 8:14cv00175
