Florida Entity Accuses Street-level Map Visualization Apps

March 13, 2014

Visual Real Estate (VRE) has sued Google Inc. for alleged infringement of three patents related to generation of image data and production of street-level views of a geographic location (7,389,181, 7,929,800, 8,078,396). VRE accuses Google Earth and Google Street View of infringing the asserted patents and alleges that Google induces others to infringe by instructing customers and users on how to use the applications. It appears that the asserted patents, which originated from two individual inventors, have not previously been litigated. RPX reviewed the ‘181 patent in an open market opportunity in April 2011 (Video Driveby-OMA). 3/10, Florida Middle District Court, 3:14cv00274
