New NPE Uses Search Patent Previously Asserted by Inventor

May 8, 2014

New NPE Deep Web, L.L.C. has filed its first suits against IAC Search & Media and Microsoft more than two years after it was first incorporated. The case asserts three patents that relate to managing and fulfilling Internet search requests. Deep Web acquired the patents-in-suit from inventor Michael Moricz in March 2012 (7,693,956, 7,716,303, 7,730,160). Moricz previously asserted the three patents against Google in a case filed in August 2010. The case was dismissed in November 2011. In the current litigation defendants’ web search products, Ask.com and Bing, are accused of infringing the asserted patents. 5/2, Western District of Washington, 2:14cv00663, 2:14cv00664
