Days after Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) filed a complaint against Zond seeking declaratory relief with respect to six patents, Zond sued Fujitsu and TSMC for alleged infringement of the same group of patents. The patents-in-suit relate to plasma technology used in semiconductor fabrication (6,806,651, 6,896,773, 6,896,775, 6,903,511, 7,095,179, 7,446,479). Zond’s complaint accuses semiconductor chips and components manufactured by Fujitsu and TSMC of infringing the asserted patents. The patents originated with Zond, the licensing arm of Zpulser, a producer of high-current pulsed plasma generators that appears to be struggling financially.
