Kappa Digital, a new NPE controlled by Daniel Perez, sued T-Mobile for alleged infringement of a patent related to wireless transmission of digital messages (6,349,135). The complaint accuses T-Mobile’s text messaging services of infringing the patent-in-suit. The ‘135 patent, which does not appear to have been previously asserted, originated with Frazier King Media Holdings. The patent was assigned to Digital Rush Mail (managed by one of the patent’s co-inventors, Edward Frazier) in December 2006, then to Kappa Digital in May 2014. 06/10, Texas Eastern District Court, 2:14cv00671
