Touch Screen Patents Asserted Against Toshiba, VIZIO
- July 22, 2014
Global Touch Solutions (GTS), an entity created in September 2012, filed its first suits naming Toshiba and VIZIO as defendants. The suit accuses defendants’ devices that include a touch screen, including laptops computers, tablets, and televisions of infringing the three patents-in-suit (7,265,494, 7,329,970, 7,498,749). The asserted patents relate to a user interface for a touch sensor, and they originated with Azoteq, an operating company that sells capacitive touch technology. RPX reviewed the patents-in-suit as part of an open market opportunity in December 2011 (Azoteq-Acq). They were transferred to GTS in April 2013. GTS is a subsidiary of Golden Wave Partners Company LTD. The company also owns Infinite Data LLC and Safe Storage LLC, both entities that have filed a number of infringement lawsuits against operating companies in the last few years. 7/9, Eastern District of Virginia, 2:14cv00346, 2:14cv00347
