Freescale Semiconductor and STMicroelectronics are the newest defendants in National Cheung Kung University’s (NCKU) ongoing campaign. The entity began filing litigation in July 2012, asserting a group of patents related to semiconductor fabrication. The recent suits assert a single patent, not used in NCKU’s previous litigation, that relates specifically to testing analog-to-digital converters (7,154,422). Microcontrollers manufactured by defendants are accused of infringing the asserted patent. NCKU has filed 17 suits since it began filing litigation, the majority of which are inactive.
