New Patent Asserted in Nat’l Cheung Kung Semiconductor Campaign

October 2, 2014

Freescale Semiconductor and STMicroelectronics are the newest defendants in National Cheung Kung University’s (NCKU) ongoing campaign. The entity began filing litigation in July 2012, asserting a group of patents related to semiconductor fabrication. The recent suits assert a single patent, not used in NCKU’s previous litigation, that relates specifically to testing analog-to-digital converters (7,154,422). Microcontrollers manufactured by defendants are accused of infringing the asserted patent. NCKU has filed 17 suits since it began filing litigation, the majority of which are inactive. Its May 2013 suit against Intel is the only case, besides these newly filed cases, that is ongoing. 10/1, Eastern District of Texas, 2:14cv00924, 2:14cv00925
