A new ITUS subsidiary, VPN Multicast, filed its first litigations, suing AT&T and Data Dimension. The suits assert a single patent (8,477,778) that has not been used in previous litigation. ITUS acquired the patent-in-suit from Meetrix Communications in November 2013; it was previously owned by Great West Capital. The asserted patent relates to multicast communication over a virtual private network (VPN) and accuses defendants VPN systems and services of infringement. This is the second new campaign launched by ITUS since it changed its name from CopyTele in September of this year.
