New NPE Sues Security System Makers in First Round of Litigation

December 16, 2014

New NPE Secured Structures, LLC filed its first litigation campaign against Alarm Security Group, Central Security Group, CPI Security Systems, Diebold, Drive THRU Technology, Electric Guard Dog, G4S PLC, Guardian Protection Services, Interface Security Systems, Kastle Systems, Monitronics International, Protection One, Stanley Black & Decker, Tyco International, Vector Security, and Vivint. The campaign asserts a single patent (6,134,303) that originated with Tempa Communication and was assigned first to Formosa Electronics in 2003, then to Gainia Intellectual Asset Services in 2011, and finally to Secured Structures in October 2014. The patent-in-suit relates to a centralized security system, and defendants’ security systems are accused of infringement. RPX reviewed that ‘303 patent in two separate open market opportunities, first in December 2012 and again in July 2014 (Gania – OMA and Gania 2 – OMA).
