William Grecia appears to be expanding his campaign significantly, with suits against three new defendants, AT&T, RCN Telecom, and WideOpenWest. Since the beginning of March, the inventor has added four new defendants to a campaign that had previously had six defendants. Grecia’s suits assert a single patent that concerns cloud-based digital content distribution (8,533,860). In the new suits, the defendants’ media streaming services are accused of infringing the asserted patent. Similar products are accused in each suit of the campaign. Sony filed a petition for IPR as to the ‘860 patent in December 2014 (IPR2015-00422). The petition is still pending before the PTAB.
