MasterObjects, Inc. filed a new suit against Google, the entity’s first new filing since 2013. The complaint accuses Google’s instant search feature of infringing a single patent, which concerns auto-complete for search queries (8,539,024). That patent-in-suit was previously asserted in an earlier suit against Google, as well as against Yahoo. The previous Google suit was filed in April 2013 and voluntarily dismissed without prejudice in January 2014. In addition to accusing Google’s instant search feature, the previous suit also accused of infringement a suggest feature that fills in partial queries, as well as platforms and devices that enable Google’s search capabilities.
