KW-2 LLC sued ASUS, HP, and Dell in its first round of litigation. The suits assert a single patent, 6,027,835, which relates to lithium-ion battery cells. The patent originated with Fuji Film and was assigned to UBE Industries Limited in 2002. In 2013, the patent was assigned to Ryujin Patent & Licensing in 2013. According to the complaint, KW-2 is the exclusive licensee of the patent-in-suit. Lithium ion batteries made by the defendants are the accused products in KW-2’s campaign.
